Search your local library for guidebooks, contact the Spanish Tourist Office (details in this Chapter) for leaflets and brochures, go to a local travel agent and obtain Tour Operators brochures which often contain a lot of useful information about various resorts, search the internet for relevant information.

Information Sources
Arm yourself with as much information as you can about your chosen holiday spot before you go. Search your local library for guidebooks, contact the Spanish Tourist Office (details in this Chapter) for leaflets and brochures, go to a local travel agent and obtain Tour Operators brochures which often contain a lot of useful information about various resorts, search the internet for relevant information. There are some excellent guide books on Spain such as Lonelyplanet (www.lonelyplanet.com) or the Rough Guide (www.roughguides.com) available in libraries, bookstores or from www.amazon.co.uk. Be selective when deciding how much information you want to bring on holidays (paper is heavy). Reduce weight by photocopying the important bits rather than bring the entire book or brochure.
In particular make a note of the address and phone number of the Tourist Information Office nearest your holiday destination.
The Spanish National Tourist Office (SNTO) will provide you with lots of information, maps, brochures, pamphlets and leaflets, most of them free. The Tourist Offices are also a good source of hotels, apartments, hostels, and campsites. Virtually every town, city and resort has a Tourist Office where you can find information on the local area. If you phone from the UK dial 0034 before the numbers provided in the list. The list is arranged by region (for example Madrid region, Canary Islands, etc).
